Small office moves can become confusing because everybody assumes somebody else is handling the details. Give one person responsibility for the move and keep a single list.
Two to four weeks before
- Confirm access, loading and parking at both buildings.
- Decide what is moving, being sold or being recycled.
- Book internet and utilities for the new address.
- Measure large desks and storage against doors and lifts.
- Decide which furniture needs dismantling.
Label by destination
Use the new room or team name, not the old position. A label such as “New office, meeting room” saves questions at the delivery end. Photograph cable connections before disconnecting computers and put each desk’s cables in its own labelled bag.
Pack the first-day box
Include keys, access cards, basic stationery, extension leads, cleaning items, kettle supplies and the router if it is travelling with you. Keep business-critical equipment clearly separated.
Finally, tell customers and suppliers about the address change. This is the task that tends to survive untouched at the bottom of the list.
