Keep pathways clear, put old towels or suitable floor protection near entrances and avoid leaving cardboard boxes outside. Furniture and mattresses should be covered before they leave the property, not after they reach the pavement.
Very heavy rain, flooding or dangerous wind may change what can be handled safely. Your removal team should discuss this with you rather than taking unnecessary risks.
One more tip: keep dry socks and a change of clothes in your essentials bag. It sounds trivial until 4 pm.
