Moving a Sofa Through a Tight Hallway

A sofa can fit comfortably inside a room and still refuse to leave it. Door width is only one part of the problem. Measure the sofa’s height, depth and length, then check the doorway, hallway turns, stair width and the space immediately outside the entrance.

Removable feet often give enough extra clearance. Some sofas also separate into sections, but do not assume they do. Recliner mechanisms add weight and can be easily damaged if lifted from the wrong points.

Send photos of the route as well as the sofa. A good transporter wants to see the awkward corner before arriving, not while holding one end of it.
