A full packing service is not simply a faster version of putting things into boxes. The team has to protect different materials, keep rooms organised and make sure the boxes can be moved and stacked safely.
Before the packers arrive
Set aside passports, keys, jewellery, medicines, wallets, laptops and anything travelling with you personally. Dispose of items that cannot be transported and separate anything you do not want packed. It is surprising how quickly a remote control or half-full bathroom bottle disappears into a well-labelled box.
The packing order
We normally start with rooms and items that are not needed immediately. Books and solid objects go into smaller boxes so they remain liftable. Linen and lighter goods can use larger cartons. Plates are generally packed on edge with paper between them, while glasses need individual wrapping and enough cushioning to stop them meeting each other.
Pictures and mirrors receive corner and surface protection. Lampshades need room and should not be crushed under heavier contents. Wardrobe cartons can keep hanging clothes in better order, particularly when the distance between properties is short.
Furniture comes next
Drawers are checked, loose shelves are removed or secured and vulnerable edges are protected. Mattresses and upholstered furniture use suitable covers. If a bed or wardrobe is being dismantled, the fixings are kept together and clearly identified.
Labelling that helps at the other end
A box needs the destination room and a useful description. “Bedroom 2: bedside items” is helpful. “Stuff” is not. Fragile boxes are marked clearly, but the packing itself must still be strong enough for normal handling.
How long does it take?
That depends on the volume, not only the number of bedrooms. A minimalist three-bedroom home can be quicker than a one-bedroom flat full of books, kitchen equipment and collections. Access, parking and the number of fragile items also matter.
The best way to quote a full pack is usually a visit or video walkthrough. It lets us estimate materials and labour accurately, and it gives you a chance to point out anything that needs unusual care.
