Marketplace furniture can be excellent value, but the listing rarely tells a transporter everything needed. Before arranging collection, ask the seller for:
- Exact width, height and depth.
- The collection postcode and floor.
- Whether there is a lift and whether the item fits inside it.
- Whether the furniture comes apart.
- Whether somebody can help at collection.
Also send a current photo, not only the manufacturer’s catalogue image. It shows the real shape, any glass panels and how the item is positioned in the property.
At the delivery end, check doorways and stair turns. “It fitted into my last house” is unfortunately not a measurement.
